Route: From parking areas at Howelsen Ice Arena or Rodeo Grounds just across 5th Street from downtown Steamboat Springs, head south on CR 14 (River Road). After 1.5 miles turn left onto Mount Werner Road and follow the map to the first hill, Laurel Lane. Next in line is an out and back on Burgess Creek Road, then Fish Creek Falls Road and finally CR 36 to the end of the pavement for the final climb.
Highlights: This is a good loop with plenty of bailout points if the weather is unsettled or your group wants long and short ride options. It puts together a challenging climbing ride while staying within a short distance of town.
