To get to this trailhead, about 20 minutes away from downtown Steamboat Springs, head west on 13th Street and proceed on CR 33 (Twentymile Road) for 6.5 miles. Turn left onto CR 45 (Cow Creek Road), and proceed for 1.1 miles. Parking area for Rotary/Ridge trailhead will be on your left. Proceed on bike along Cow Creek Road for another 2 miles. Look for the Beall Trailhead on left, pass through gate and bear right.
The highlights of this loop are it’s meandering and steady climbs along the Beall Trail through open meadows and aspen groves which give way to a fun, sometimes smooth, sometimes loose and technical descent on the Ridge Trail. The loop also comes with commanding views of both the Flat Tops and the ski area.
Note: Can be done as out-and-backs on either Beall or Ridge trails. Watch for Rotary Trail sign on right as you head down Ridge, and continue on this trail for a more gravity-style experience with banks, berms and rollers. Best ridden up Beall, down Ridge. Beall has a seasonal closure from Dec. 1 to June 30 to protect wintering and calving elk.
