Gore Gruel: The Steamboat Century

Length: 111.8 miles
Time: 6 - 10 hours
Aerobic: Strenuous!
Technical: Advanced
Season: April through October

Total Ascent: 6055
Max Elevation: 9565
Min Elevation: 6755

Route: From downtown Steamboat Springs, head east on Hwy. 40 over Rabbit Ears Pass and south to Wolford Mountain Reservoir just before the town of Kremmling. Turn right onto Hwy. 134 over Gore Pass. On the descent, turn right at the intersection with Hwy. 131 through Toponas to head north. Passing through Oak Creek marks the final rest stop for water and snacks.

Highlights: The century is actually 111 miles, and it’s a big one! The 21-mile climb over Rabbit Ears is rewarded by fast descents and rolling hills.

Note: Start this ride early, take extra food/water. Toponas’ gas station & market at 72 miles is the first snack stop

Mapping track provided by Chris Tamucci, thanks Chris!
